A safe solution to unwanted clogged gutters

Gutterglove gutter guardWhen was the last time you climbed up on a ladder and cleaned out your gutters and downspouts? This can be a dangerous task, as more than 300 people die from ladder falls each year, according to the World Health Organization.

If you can’t remember the last time your gutters were cleaned or if you want to avoid using a ladder, you’re not alone. Most homeowners intend to clean their gutters but will keep pushing it to tomorrow or simply don’t have enough time in the day to do it. Cleaning your gutters can be an annoying project, but if ignored can seriously harm your home. Gutters can get plugged with wet leaves and sludge, and create dangerous water build up which can accumulate and damage your home’s roof and ceiling and even crack your foundation.

A smart solution to avoid unwanted damage to your home, the nuisance of routine cleaning and the risk of climbing on a ladder altogether is to invest in GuttergloveTM gutter guard. Install Gutterglove gutter guards and you’ll say goodbye to debris and leaf clogged gutters. You’ll never have to clean your gutters again, which means you can stay off that rickety ladder.

Gutterglove’s revolutionary design fits on virtually any existing roof and gutter system and is 50 times more efficient than the competition, filtering over 150 inches of hourly rain. A foundation made of 10-gauge anodized aluminum and topped with a 316 surgical grade stainless steel mesh, Gutterglove provides needed strength to withstand the heavy snow and ice that comes with a Minnesota winter.

So the choice is up to you, but we think the best option is clear. Find out more information about ordering your Gutterglove gutter guard system here, and save 20 percent on orders placed before October 31, 2015.

The Off Season Secret

WinterHouseSceneIt is the time of the year that I once again make that child-like journey to the old Christmas time favorites on the television.  One enduring favorite is Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer where we are annually reintroduced to Yukon Cornelius and the Abominable Snowmonster of the North, affectionately referred to as Bumble.  As a child, the terror of this yeti like creature with its long fangs and a hairless blue face, and hands filled a few moments of the family show with fear and extreme apprehension while we wondered what was next.

That same feeling of alarm and distrust are equally prevalent when your contractor suggests the unthinkable……replace your windows in the middle of a Minnesota winter.  The thought of removing the barrier that is protecting your home and family from the sometimes frigid weather might even make old Bumble himself a little nervous.  However, there is really nothing to be afraid of, and, in fact, the winter months can create a wonderful opportunity for homeowners. GPS receiverIf you’ve been living on a remote, desolate island, completely passed up by technology and do not recognize the word used in the title; I will be happy to provide a little basic tutorial.  When traveling across country, recalculating is a term that is generated by your GPS that is used to identify a wrong turn on your journey.  If you veer off the most direct route to your destination, a voice notifies you that the GPS is “recalculating” your route, and will soon announce the corrected course to get you arriving at your destination as soon as possible.

Homeowner’s go through a recalculation process almost every season.  Collegiate and professional teams recalculate their game plan after each sporting contest.  Even businesses employ a recalculation exercise to keep them focused on their core values.  Society tends to have a little fun with the recalculating verbiage, but is is a very proactive process that typically is beneficial to all.

Your home is currently going through a recalculation process.  The unseasonal temperatures have created a January-like environment, and are forcing each of us to rethink the overall efficiency of our home.  Are you feeling drafts by your windows?  Do you see frost on your severely inefficient and outdated window and door systems?  And, most importantly, are you terrified to open the heating bill when it arrives in the mail?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, it is time to seek out the services of a professional that can assist you in your recalculation process.  Since 1967, Richard Larson Builders has been helping homeowners with that important progression.  Let our professionals recalculate, remove, and re-install a new window or door system from Pro Via that features energy saving technology that will pay dividends to you for years to come.

Have you reached it yet?

ScaleEverybody has one.  It might have been building for months, or, for some, it has just taken a day or two. What I’m talking about is a tipping point.  By definition, it is a point where an issue crosses a threshold that requires some type of action.  Unfortunately, when it comes to home improvements, those tipping points typically involve a little bit of pain.  High heating/cooling costs, water intrusion problems, or maybe just an extremely vocal significant other are examples of unintended consequences that involve a tipping point.

One of the best ways to combat an emotionally charged tipping point decision is education.  Learn as much as you can about the issue, and then you can make a logical decision on how to solve your problem.

As the rain falls on central Minnesota today, the phone has been very active with water intrusion problems or concerns from potential customers that have reached their tipping point with leaking or damaged gutters.

We have assembled a very useful tool to help educate homeowners about those “thingies-that-drain-the-water-off-my-roof,” or, as they are more professionally called; gutters.

Download our free Gutter Buyer’s Guide today.  This document will help walk you through the process of becoming a more educated consumer, and will help prevent those tipping points from creating a tremendous amount of pain.
